Matheo: Jurnal Teologi/Kependetaan implements a peer review process to ensure that every published manuscript demonstrates high academic quality, originality, theological relevance, and a meaningful contribution to the advancement of theological scholarship and pastoral ministry.

Each submitted manuscript undergoes an initial editorial screening. During this stage, the editorial team evaluates the manuscript’s suitability to the journal’s focus and scope, compliance with formatting requirements, originality, and adherence to the author guidelines.

Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening are assigned to reviewers with expertise relevant to the subject matter of the manuscript. Matheo: Jurnal Teologi/Kependetaan employs a Double-Blind Peer Review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process to ensure objectivity and impartiality.

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  1. Relevance to the journal’s focus and scope.
  2. Originality and scholarly contribution to theological and pastoral studies.
  3. Clarity of the research problem, objectives, and theological argumentation.
  4. Appropriateness of the research methodology or analytical approach.
  5. Quality of analysis in biblical studies, church history, Christian dogmatics, Pentecostal studies, and practical theology.
  6. Relevance of the findings or ideas for the church, pastoral ministry, society, and the academic community.
  7. Accuracy and appropriateness of sources, citations, and references.
  8. Article structure, consistency of writing, language quality, and overall academic presentation.

Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editor may make one of the following decisions:

  1. Accept Submission.
  2. Accept with Minor Revisions.
  3. Accept with Major Revisions.
  4. Resubmit for Review.
  5. Reject Submission.

Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in accordance with the comments and recommendations provided by the reviewers and editors within the specified timeframe. Revised manuscripts may be re-evaluated by the editorial team and, when necessary, returned to the reviewers for further assessment.

The final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript rests with the Editor-in-Chief, taking into account the reviewers’ recommendations, the quality of the revisions, compliance with the journal’s publication standards, and the manuscript’s contribution to the advancement of theological scholarship and pastoral ministry.
