This article proposes the concept of a theology of rest as an innovative approach to addressing depression, utilizing the narrative of Elijah in 1 Kings 19. Depression has long been acknowledged as a serious and widespread mental health condition, affecting millions globally and significantly impacting their quality of life. This study explores how principles of a theology of rest, often overlooked in clinical treatments for depression, can be integrated into recovery strategies. Through narrative analysis of Elijah's experiences—particularly the events at Mount Horeb—this article demonstrates that rest plays a crucial role not only in physical recovery but also supports psychological and spiritual healing. With a literature review, this article examines sources that discuss the issue of depression in psychological findings, as well as the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19 related to depression issues. In its conclusion, the article proposes that a theology of rest can serve as a fundamental principle in depression recovery, offering a new perspective that integrates physical, psychological, and spiritual care.
