Abstract

The formation of children's character is the responsibility of parents. However, God gave the church the same vessel as the family to help shape children's character. Various efforts are made so that children can practice religious attitudes as Christians. Therefore, the role of Sunday school teachers is essential in carrying out this task. This Community Service aims to implement the role of Sunday school teachers as facilitators to shape the character of Sunday school children. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. At the same time, the implementation method is carried out by implementing the teacher's role as a facilitator to Sunday school children in the Toddler class at the Bethel Church of Indonesia Pekan Raya Jakarta. The implementation results show that the factors that influence character formation include internal factors, namely heredity and physicality, while external factors include family, school, church, and environmental factors. In addition, Sunday School teachers must understand the characteristics of Toddler class children, selfish children, children who have high curiosity, short concentration, children who imitate, and children who like to play. Therefore, in solving this problem, it is hoped that Sunday School teachers can carry out character building through the role of facilitator. This facilitator provides a method of approach: meeting children's needs, forming children's self-concepts, forming children's spirituality and habituation methods, by applying character-building values such as religious, obedient, disciplined, responsible, and honest so that children can apply them in life.
