This research evaluates the views of Peter van Inwagen, who proposes that personal identity and survival after death are explained through the connection with the physical body, a concept referred to as "Christian Materialism." Van Inwagen argues that survival after death does not require a continuing non-physical soul, but instead depends on the physical restoration of the body. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with text analysis and conceptual critique, comparing van Inwagen's theory with alternative theories from relevant philosophical and theological literature. The results show that van Inwagen's view faces significant criticism for replacing the traditional concept of the soul with a theory of physical resurrection, raising questions about how personal identity and consciousness are maintained after death, and the theological implications of rejecting the dualism of soul and body.
2021-05-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Matheo : Jurnal Teologi/Kependetaan https://sttbi.ac.id/journal/index.php/matheo/article/view/356 KEKUATAN PENGAMPUNAN: PENGARUH AJARAN KRISTEN TENTANG PENGAMPUNAN TERHADAP RESILIENSI PERSONAL 2024-05-07T02:15:45+00:00 Susanna Katryn Susanna.katryn@sttbi.ac.id Shinta Permanasari Shinta@sttbi.ac.id Ronaldo Yonathan Ronaldo@sttbi.ac.id Reni Purba Reni@gmail.com
This study examines the role of forgiveness within the Christian context as a profound and influential concept on personal resilience. This study explores the psychological dynamics involved in the emotional and physical wounds experienced by women due to domestic violence, and examines the social and cultural factors contributing to the prevalence and persistence of this phenomenon. The findings indicate that experiences of domestic violence often leave long-term psychological effects such as post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and anxiety, exacerbated by social stigma and isolation. This research aims to understand the coping mechanisms used by women and to evaluate the effectiveness of various intervention models currently in use. The primary goal is to support the development of more effective policies and practices for preventing violence and supporting victims, and to provide practical benefits to mental health practitioners, policymakers, and activists in formulating better strategies for intervention and advocacy.
2021-05-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Matheo : Jurnal Teologi/Kependetaan https://sttbi.ac.id/journal/index.php/matheo/article/view/359 SPIRITUALITAS PEREMPUAN DALAM DIALOG: ANALISIS TEOLOGIS PERTEMUAN YESUS DENGAN PEREMPUAN SAMARIA DI YOHANES 4:1-42 2024-05-07T02:14:11+00:00 M. Diabetes mellitus, as the third leading cause of death in Indonesia, not only imposes high costs on the healthcare system but also affects the mental health of patients, creating an urgent need for effective prevention strategies. This study employs a literature review method, analyzing various sources including journal articles, books, and other publications relevant to spirituality, dietary practices, and diabetes management. Key findings indicate that poor eating habits, such as high consumption of sugar and processed carbohydrates, significantly increase the risk of diabetes, while maintaining dietary practices within Christian spirituality traditions can serve as a preventive measure. This study also discusses how maintaining dietary practices is an act of developing Christian spirituality. Therefore, this article argues that the practice of mindful eating, which acts as a preventive measure against diabetes, is a way to establish a relationship with God and all of His creation through food.
2021-05-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Matheo : Jurnal Teologi/Kependetaan https://sttbi.ac.id/journal/index.php/matheo/article/view/367 TEOLOGI ISTIRAHAT SEBAGAI SUATU USULAN ATAS ISU DEPRESI: MELIHAT PERISTIWA ELIA DALAM NARASI 1 RAJA-RAJA 19 2024-05-08T11:54:59+00:00 Herry Heryadi herry.heryadi@gmail.com Joseph Sujanto joseph@sttbi.ac.id Otsetus Mandik sammy.mandik@gmail.com Walangitan Kristian Imanuel walangit@gmail.com Walangitan Kristian Imanuel walangit@gmail.com Voler Clin's Lalamentik Lalamentik@sttbi.ac.id
This article proposes the concept of a theology of rest as an innovative approach to addressing depression, utilizing the narrative of Elijah in 1 Kings 19. Depression has long been acknowledged as a serious and widespread mental health condition, affecting millions globally and significantly impacting their quality of life. This study explores how principles of a theology of rest, often overlooked in clinical treatments for depression, can be integrated into recovery strategies. Through narrative analysis of Elijah's experiences—particularly the events at Mount Horeb—this article demonstrates that rest plays a crucial role not only in physical recovery but also supports psychological and spiritual healing. With a literature review, this article examines sources that discuss the issue of depression in psychological findings, as well as the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19 related to depression issues. In its conclusion, the article proposes that a theology of rest can serve as a fundamental principle in depression recovery, offering a new perspective that integrates physical, psychological, and spiritual care.
2021-05-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Matheo : Jurnal Teologi/Kependetaan https://sttbi.ac.id/journal/index.php/matheo/article/view/368 MENAVIGASI MISI MISIONAL DALAM MASYARAKAT POSTMODERN: STRATEGI GEREJA DALAM MENYEBARKAN PESAN KERAJAAN ALLAH 2024-05-09T12:25:45+00:00 Bahtiar Manik bahtiar.manik@sttbi.ac.id Junifrius Gultom junifrius.gultom@sttbi.ac.id
This study aims to explore how the church can integrate and communicate the concept of the Kingdom of God in a missional context in the postmodern era, characterized by skepticism towards grand narratives and truth relativism. Through a literature research approach, this study examines more effective and resonant church communication strategies with the postmodern society. The findings indicate that the use of relatable narratives, adaptation of symbolism, and a dialogic approach are key to reaching a postmodern audience. The strategies adopted by the church should include an integration between eschatological hope and contextual social responsibility, emphasizing cross-sectoral cooperation and the use of modern technology to strengthen the church's missional mission. This study concludes that a holistic and inclusive approach in communicating the Kingdom of God strengthens the church's role as a unifying and social transformation agent in a fragmented society.

2021-05-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Matheo : Jurnal Teologi/Kependetaan
