Pencurahan Roh Kudus seringkali dikaitkan dengan ucapan rasul Petrus ketika mengutip perkataan Yoel. Pada nats Yoel 2:28-29 mengandung janji Allah Bapa bagi seluruh umat manusia. Janji ini merupakan suatu langkah lanjutan dari karya penebusan Yesus Kristus di dalam memberdayakan umat Allah dalam melakukan misi yang telah ditetapkan sejak penciptaan. Suatu misi yang harus dilakukan oleh umat Allah untuk menghadirkan damai sejahtera di muka bumi bagi seluruh umat manusia dan seluru ciptaan Allah. Dan tujuan misi ini adalah fokus utama dari penginjilan. Pemberdayaan oleh Roh Kudus dimaksudkan untuk menyelesaikan misi penginjilan ini dengan kuasa Allah.
