For those with a positive view, women are seen as having skills that men do not have. However, from the negative side, women are seen as inferior and weak. The feminist movement, which has spread to all levels of society, is also seen as the wrong response. Therefore, studies are needed that show women's education from ancient sources, namely the Ancient Middle East, which was the ancestor of Christianity, as the context for the birth of the religion of Israel. The research method used was descriptive qualitative. The research results show that women's participation in education in Ancient Middle Eastern society is evident. Even though they live in a patriarchal environment in Israel, women play a role in family, law, kinship, and religion in Ancient Middle Eastern society. The presence of women has colored the various roles of society at that time
Gernaida Krisna R. The focus of hospitality lies in sincerity in giving and accepting other people's limitations (Tabita Kartika Christiani). This attitude of accepting other people's limitations reminds us of people with disabilities who, in the view of society and the church, are often used as objects of pity, less involved, abnormal, and considered incapable. The church often does not care about what people with disabilities experience and struggle with. Without realizing it, this attitude of the church has made a difference within the church body itself (Rebeca Spurrier). People with disabilities should be seen as people with gifts from God (Nancy Eiesland). Gifts that enable them to continue their lives together with others. Therefore, so that people with disabilities can recognize their existence, people need to be educated to accept the presence of people with disabilities amid fellowship as part of the body of Christ that cannot be separated. Inclusive Holy Communion can be a friendly space for people with disabilities because all people are united from various backgrounds through Holy Communion. Inclusive Holy Communion helps people understand that everyone is equal before God and has the right to receive salvation from Him. This article invites people to understand that inclusive Holy Communion can help everyone, including people with disabilities, feel accepted and valued in communion with Christ.
Debbie Tohatta Copyright (c) 2024 Diegesis : Jurnal Teologi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-02-28 2024-02-28 9 1 31 46 10.46933/DGS.vol9i131-46 DO OUR LANGUAGES DERIVE FROM BABEL? A BIBLICAL STUDY OF GENESIS 11:1-9 http://sttbi.ac.id/journal/index.php/diegesis/article/view/345
This article examines the meanings of Genesis 11:1-9 to straighten out the general Christian understanding that the Tower of Babel story is about the origin of all world languages’ development today. The research method is conducted qualitatively using a narrative hermeneutic approach consisting of background, literary, context, lexical, and grammatical analysis. After analyzing the text, the authors find that Genesis 11:1-9 has historical and theological meaning. Historically, all nations and languages of the Ancient Near East derived from Babel, while theologically, God’s people need to be faithful and obedient to His covenant. Thus, this study concludes that the general Christian understanding is inaccurate because the narrative only talks about the origin of all Ancient Near Eastern languages’ development, not all today’s world languages. Furthermore, the readers also need to understand this story as Moses and the Israelites read it by emphasizing theological, not historical, records.
Melvin Abrillian Copyright (c) 2024 Diegesis : Jurnal Teologi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-02-28 2024-02-28 9 1 47 74 10.46933/DGS.vol9i147-74 THE BIBLICAL VIEW OF DIOGENES' CYNICISM PHILOSOPHY IN CHRISTIANITY http://sttbi.ac.id/journal/index.php/diegesis/article/view/337
This study aims to find out whether the Bible supports those who are cynical, especially the cynicism of Diogenes. This type of research is useful to examine a topic that has not been studied in depth before or to broaden one's understanding of a topic that has been studied before using various perspectives. This research collects and studies all literature and sources related to the Philosophy of Cynicism, especially Christian spiritual literature sources such as the Bible. Lack of faith, or "unbelief", is one of the symptoms of cynicism. The Bible always warns its readers not to put full trust in man. According to Proverbs 3:5, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." Paul also commands Christians not to follow the pattern of this world. They would live their lives as they pleased and would ignore the advice of pastors and leaders. However, in the church, defying God's authority is considered apostasy.
Harold Siregar Bartolomeus Diaz Nainggolan Copyright (c) 2024 Diegesis : Jurnal Teologi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-02-28 2024-02-28 9 1 75 92 10.46933/DGS.vol9i175-93 PEMBINAAN ORANG DEWASA KRISTEN BERDASARKAN KONSEP PEMBELAJARAN PARTISIPATIF http://sttbi.ac.id/journal/index.php/diegesis/article/view/346
Coaching for adults can be developed based on behavioristic, cognitive, and constructivist learning concepts. However, coaching for adults involves students from the beginning of the coaching design until the evaluation, as the final part requires an appropriate learning concept, namely participatory learning. This research aims to develop a concept of formation for Christian adults by utilizing participatory learning. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. To produce a participatory coaching concept, an analysis was carried out of the characteristics of coaching for Christian adults and the concept of participatory learning. A participatory coaching concept was developed based on the results of the following analysis stage. The research results are a concept of participatory coaching for Christian adults, which consists of principles of participatory coaching and steps to develop participatory coaching for Christian adults.
Sadrakh Sugiono Copyright (c) 2024 Diegesis : Jurnal Teologi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-02-28 2024-02-28 9 1 93 107 10.46933/DGS.vol9i193-107 RELIGION, POLITICAL POSITION, AND NATION ON SOCIAL MEDIA: REVISITING THE DIALECTICS AND DISCOURSES ON THE JAKARTA LEADERSHIP AMONG SOCIAL MEDIA (INSTAGRAM) USERS http://sttbi.ac.id/journal/index.php/diegesis/article/view/350
This study aims to examine the religious expressions of young Instagram users in Jakarta and its surroundings related to the governor candidates ahead of the 2017 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election, the dialectic of religious views that occur, the reasons behind these religious views. The data in this study were obtained by observation, documentation, and interviews. Data collection and analysis were carried out using qualitative methods. The analysis and interpretation are arranged in a theoretical framework which is reviewed and sourced from several literatures related to the research focus. The results of this study indicate that public expressions on the Instagram official accounts of the 2017 Jakarta governor candidates often discuss religious issues and there are pro and contra dialectics between Islamic and non-Islamic (Christian) leaders, along with their arguments. Religious passion is obviously seen and there is a strong tendency in the public expression of Instagram comments by linking religious aspects to the figure who will lead Jakarta. There are three interrelated themes that become the main argument in dialectics and the opposition whether or not a non-Muslim governor is allowed to become a leader, namely theological, fiqh, and national interest. These views may have been influenced by religious education obtained formally or informally, religious authorities such as ustadz or ulama whose opinions are considered correct, and available online or printed religious information.
Ahmad Hakam Copyright (c) 2024 Diegesis : Jurnal Teologi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-02-29 2024-02-29 9 1 108 125 10.46933/DGS.vol9i1108-125 PANGERAN PARA PENGKHOTBAH: PATRON CHARLES HADDON SPURGEON DALAM KHOTBAH EKSPOSITORI BAGI GEREJA POSTMODERN http://sttbi.ac.id/journal/index.php/diegesis/article/view/353
The message of the Gospel is the primary mandate from Jesus Christ to the church, both in the early church ages, the Middle Ages, and the Reformation centuries, which became Christianity's greatest scandal. One of the ultimate weapons of a missionary is preaching. Church fathers gave birth to thousands of sermons to harvest souls, convey the truth of God's Word, and protect the congregation from heretical teachings. There was one church father who gave a fresh preaching patron, namely Charles Haddon Spurgeon, reformed-baptist church minister from Kelvedon, Essex, who was nicknamed the Prince of Preachers or "Prince of Preachers" gave a patron to the church. This research aims to explore Spurgeon's values of integrity in preaching and their implications for today. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a historical approach. The research results show that Spurgeon's example in preaching makes sermons and preachers have integrity in their theology and pure Gospel preachers with an expository type of preaching. Spurgeon's life value is the enthusiasm to preach the Gospel to people who have never heard the good news and accept Jesus as Lord and Savior.
Apin Militia Christi Copyright (c) 2024 Diegesis : Jurnal Teologi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-02-29 2024-02-29 9 1
